Photography has become my way of spending time in the places I care about most.

I’m drawn to landscapes, wildlife, public lands, and the quieter places in between—the kind of places where you can get away from roads and crowds for a while and simply pay attention. Much of my photography comes from traveling throughout California and the American West, often returning to the same areas in different seasons and conditions to see what has changed.

I’m less interested in collecting photographs of famous locations than I am in finding moments that make a place feel the way I remember it. Sometimes that means a broad landscape. Other times it might be wildlife, changing weather, unusual light, or a small detail that would be easy to walk past.

Over time, photography has also made me increasingly aware of how vulnerable many of these places are. Public lands and wild spaces can seem permanent, but they depend on people deciding that they are worth protecting. That connection between photography and conservation is an important part of this site and the reason I include stories about issues affecting the landscapes and places represented here.

The photographs on this site are part of an ongoing journey. Some were made close to home and others after long drives into places I had never seen before. There are still many places I want to explore, and probably quite a few I’ll keep returning to.
